Our mission is to eliminate supply chain waste by creating a digital platform to manage freight and eliminate supply chain waste.
There are 500 million hours wasted in trucking each year, over 3 billion gallons of fuel wasted per year from trucks idling, and 1 in 5 trucks on the road driving empty at any given point. This has a massive impact on the environment, the lives of millions of drivers, and ultimately, the cost of goods that we all pay. Job Description
We are seeking a Infrastructure Software Engineer that thrives in a fast-paced environment and has an unrelenting passion for building robust and scalable web infrastructure systems. This pivotal role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, assisting with design planning, and developing new solutions from scratch. Ideal candidates are proactive, experienced problem-solvers with strong development skills in Python or similar languages, and a passion for data streaming and data analytics.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to our near real time data streaming and analytics platform -- from building our data streaming pipelines up to designing new data models.
- Design the data streaming and messaging architecture, and own the data landscape, including near real-time data ingestion, processing, and data consumption.
- Work closely with data stakeholders to distill complex data problems into elegant technical solutions.
- Invent and tinker. Imagine completely new ideas, experiment, and build transformative solutions for the freight industry.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of full-time experience in software development
- Infrastructure development experience with Python or similar modern web languages

Experience with big data infrastructure such as Databricks, Kafka, Spark, etc
- Strong knowledge of modern big data
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong data analytics background

Compensation Range: The annual base salary range for this position is $136,000 - $181,000*. Compensation will vary based on factors including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Baton's full-time employees are eligible for an annual performance bonus.
